Green Holyday
The gardening component is a highly developed aspect at Exit! It allows us to address various themes in multiple ways. Education, awareness, collaboration, perseverance, consistency, and commitment are just a few examples. Since the completion of the greenhouse construction project in November 2019, we have been able to garden year-round — what a joy! This enables many young people to watch their crops grow without interruptions, such as the summer break. Over the years, many activities have been transformed or adapted. Thanks to the determination and dedication of our wonderful volunteers, Louise Maurice and Nancy Duchesneau, the greenhouse also allows for the production of native plants intended for the development of rain gardens in the region. As a result, the sale of these plants has become a fundraising activity for the youth center, while also addressing a local need for the supply of native plants, which are rarely available in garden centers.
Sensibilisation and prevention workshops
Impact de rue
The relationship between the street workers and the youth center has been an integral part of our organization for a long time. With their skills and presence in the field, they provide a perfect complement for young people. In fact, Impact de rue offers a slightly different perspective on the lives of youth and brings valuable tools for awareness and prevention. Here are some examples of workshops they offer:
- Lets speak about dépendancies
- Dopamin Game
- Wheel of dependencies
- Quiz on sain and toxic relationship
Maison Alice Desmarais
For several years now, this women’s shelter organization has been offering workshops at various high school levels in several schools, including Wilfried Laurier. These workshops are primarily aimed at raising awareness about violence against women. Each year, we are invited to take part in one of these workshops! It focuses on raising awareness about the different types of violence in Grade 11 classes, which is a very enriching experience for the students.
